COLORFUL BOMBERS, STRAP SANDALS AND RIPPED DENIM POP UP ON THE STREET AT MEN'S WEEK IN PARIS

Categories:Fashion

Photo: Emily Malan/Fashionista

I know what you're thinking: we don't spend enough time talking about boys. Specifically, menswear and all its glories. To that end, we've taken a closer look at what the less fair sex wore to Paris men's fashion week, which concluded on Sunday. The big ticket events included presentations from Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, Off White, Thom Browne, Dior, Givenchy and many more. As such, some A-list names showed up — including Dwyane Wade, Victor Cruz and David Beckham — but it's the most anonymous people we find the most intriguing when it comes to street style. On that front, we spotted many colorful and embroidered bomber jackets, strappy (sometimes Velcro) sandals and Birkenstocks, chunky leather boots and even one man with a coat draped, editor style, over a Vetements DHL shirt — of course.

These are the stories making headlines in fashion on Monday.

Karl Lagerfeld announces Miami Design Project
As if Karl Lagerfeld didn't already have enough on his plate (see: Chanel, Fendi, etc.), he's tacking on a brand-new creative project in the U.S.'s next fashion capital. On Monday, the 82-year-old designer announced that he'll be designing the lobbies of an "ultra-luxury" condominium in Miami called the Estates at Acqualina, set to open in 2020. This marks Lagerfeld's first residential real estate design project in the U.S. {Fashionista inbox}

Lucky Blue Smith's sisters model for Kipling
Male model of the moment Lucky Blue Smith isn't the only one in his family with some serious chops. Belgium-based clothing brand Kipling tapped the Smith sisters — Pyper (18), Daisy (19) and Starlie (21) — to front its back-to-school campaign, where they pose in a colorful mix of patterns and denim, each carrying a handbag from Kipling's latest line. The images are fun, but it's Pyper's taffy pink hair that steals the show.

Warby Parker signs lease on optical lab
As Warby Parker continues to expand, it's adding more physical space to its collection of stores and showrooms. On Monday, the eyewear brand announced it had just signed a lease on 34,000-square-foot optical lab — the company's first — in New York's Rockland County. According to a release, the lab "allows for more sustainable growth across supply chain, while also creating jobs locally." {Fashionista inbox}

John Casablancas, founder of Elite Models, is getting a documentary
Between "Zoolander 2" and "The Neon Demon," modeling movies are having something of a moment — and now documentaries are getting in on the fun. A new French film called "Casablancas, L’Homme qui aimait les femmes" (or "Casablancas, The Man Who Loved Women") retraces the life of Elite Models' founder John Casablancas, who discovered Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer and more. It hits French theaters on June 29.

Puma named activewear partner of the New York City Ballet
Puma has joined forces with the New York City Ballet to serve as the official activewear partner of the prestigious dance company. In a multiyear deal, the Kering-owned athletic brand will provide rehearsal attire — including leggings, warm-ups and sneakers — to all 92 dancers on the NYCB's roster. Don't ban photos of skinny models, argues The New York Times's Vanessa Friedman
In a new column, The New York Times Fashion Director Vanessa Friedman writes that banning photos of skinny models may not be the answer to preventing the body dysmorphia that is often spawned by the fashion industry. "Banning something simply makes it much more intriguing," she writes, also saying that her children remain "acutely aware of the distortions of the fashion world and their dangers."
